Trusting When It's Hard
"Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward." Genesis 15:1
Sometimes people become obsessed with performance, work, and success because they feel driven to please another human being. Perhaps it's a spouse, parent, pastor or boss. When this person is happy, life is enjoyable. But if this individual becomes displeased, life takes a nosedive.

Do you ever find it hard to understand the things that happen to you after you decide to trust God with your life? You want to believe that He is working in your circumstances, but you see little clear-cut evidence.

God promised Abram would be the father of a great people-group, yet he and Sarai remained childless. For ten years Abram and Sarai saw no sign of the fulfillment of God's plan. As Abram contemplated adopting a servant as his heir, the Lord reaffirmed His intentions. "Don't worry, Abram. I'm your protection. You will have a son."

Like Abram, you can be assured that God will keep His promises to you. Ask the Lord to give you the courage to change your self-defeating thoughts and habits and to remain committed to the process. Trust that He is helping you, even when you don't understand or transformation doesn't take place as rapidly as you wish.
p.s. This was in my "New Vantage Point Devotional" this morning and thought I would share it. It was good for me to hear...especially right now! Thx for your prayers!!!
