There more I learn about the Catholic religion in Mexico, the more I realize how wrong and sinful it is. Saturday Dec. 12 (Virgin Mary/Guadalupe day) we were invited to a "first communion" of the cute little girl pictured beside Madison. Her name is Julia. She is super sweet and in Madi's class at school. Her mother is Kayson's "english" teacher. We have tried to be a light in the kid's school. Despite the fact we had tons to do and really didn't want to go, we decided that in order to share Jesus you have to be involved in people's life and honor them. We arrived early and had an opportunity to talk with Julia and her family. They were really thankful that we came.

We sat down and the priest came down very ceremoniously and said some things to Julia and her little cousin (6 years old, who was participating too). They walked forward and then the priest started talking about Mexico's "little mother" (madrecita) the virgin Guadalupe. He taught how we should "seek her", "follow her" and "pray to her" for "help", "salvation", etc. (I'm putting "" obviously because these are quotes!) He then talked about all the "images" that the Catholics have in their faith and how they should be placed around the bed for protection, in the car, etc. I literally leaned over to Barb and said I should have "got my affairs in order" before we entered that building. I kept waiting for the fire and brimstone to rain!

Now I know this is not very "politically correct", but in my defense I warned you with the title (please see above :). My point is not to share anything other than the fact that MANY MILLIONS of people in this world have been lied to and tricked by Satan. Jesus has given us the job of, IN LOVE, sharing the gospel with them. I'm not talking doctrine here. Clapping, women's roles, or whatever else won't come up right. The point is simply that JESUS is the ONLY way to be saved and much of the world is seeking other people and things. They don't have the hope we have. They don't know the loving God we do. They believe they can buy, cheat, or steal their way into heaven. Please pray for Mexico. Please pray that God will have compassion on so many who earnestly seek Him, but have been lied to by so many priest and Satan himself! Pray for us as we try to share the gospel. We want to be people of love and grace and truth!
