Well, today is Thanksgiving. This is the craziest looking turkey I could find and I felt like it is a pretty good representation of ME! Besides the fact that I am a "turkey", I'm trying hard to give thanks, but I'm having a bit of a time of it. Now God has been so good and I'm so blessed with my family! I know there are many in this world who have so much less than I do, so from many points of view...giving thanks is easy!!! To be really honest, I'm ready for Christmas though...not for the presents or decorations, but for a little much needed "time off"! Although we will be visiting supporters and preaching, there will be some days of REST! I feel like we have WORKED every holiday this year...Mexican holidays, States holidays and maybe even a holiday from another country or two. I'm reminded how important REST is and how God designed us to take time off and revive. It seems like every year around this time we are just about exhausted and we long for some time off. I think this year has been one of the hardest as far as the work is concerned. Our load has been many times what we have carried in the past. Barbara has carried the women's program nearly the whole year. We have also planned, organized and delegated all the events of the congregation. We were in charge of all the Summer visitors; LST and two mission groups. That doesn't include our weekly small group, classes, Bible studies, monthly sermons, etc. It seems like we got back in February from the states and we have been running since. I don't mean to exaggerate my case, because the reality is we did get to go to the beach this year for two days and we have also been to Toluca twice for a couple of days each time! It's just been a really long year. I'm not the biggest fan of our states trip, because I feel like I "get out of the groove". The trip is super expensive and a ton of driving for me! At the same time, the trip is a time to rethink and redream for the Lord's work here in Leon. A time to see family and supporters. A time to share the great things God has been doing! I'm tired, please pray that I can finish the year strong! Our prayer is that you are blessed and encouraged during this time of giving thanks! We truly are thankful for your prayers and partnership in this mission effort!
Thanks for your interest in the Lord's work in Leon and our family!
