As most of you know by now I have been diagnosed with skin cancer. I guess the proper medical term is malignant melanoma. Basically I discovered this by the lady who cuts my hair and she made a comment that I had a mole behind my ear. Natalie then noticed about a month later that it had gotten bigger. I went to the doctor who then cut the mole off but honestly did not think much about it, but as a precaution he always sends off moles he removes to be tested. Last Tuesday night he came over to my house because he is a close friend of ours and told me it was malignant melanoma. This particular type of skin cancer can be very scary because it can be very aggressive and spread. Needless to say I was in shock and honestly thought this was not happening. It was especially rough for a little while because Natalie was out of town and I had to tell her over the phone. The next step now is I will be going in for surgery the 28th of March. They will first shoot some radioactive dye in my ear and they will then remove about 4 cm's in diameter of my ear. So it will basically look like a dog chewed on my ear for a while. They will also remove five of my lymph nodes and they will also be able to tell us if the cancer has spread. The good thing is I will go in the next week for reconstruction on my ear and he will be able to make it look somewhat normal again. Here is where you come into the picture. Natalie and I both believe and stand firm on the promise we are told in James chapter 4 that states "you do not have because you do not ask God." We are asking God to heal my body and to not allow the cancer to spread. We are also asking ALL of our family and friends to do the same. To ask God to heal my body and to allow the surgeons to remove ALL of the cancer from my body. I can not begin to tell you how much your prayers have meant to me and how much I know I am loved by so many people who have called and emailed and told me they were praying for me. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR PRAYERS HAVE MEANT TO NATALIE AND I!! Thank you all so much and please continue to pray for us.
Jeff's Lymphoscinigraphy will be at 10:30 a.m. on March 28th at Baylor All Saints Hospital, however I don't think a waiting room exists for this procedure but his first surgery will be at 3:50 p.m. at the Texas Surgicare and Surgical Hospital which is just basically the size of a doctors office located at (800 12th Avenue in Fort Worth) which will not hold many people, but his reconstruction will be at Baylor All Saints Health Center located at: 750 13th Avenue Fort Worth 76104 on April 4th at 5:20 p.m. and would be more conducive to visitors.
