Bette Fisher Null
This morning I received an email from my cousin that my "step" grandmother had passed away.
Null, Bette Fisher, 84, licensed practical nurse, died Saturday in Sapulpa. Memorial service 11
a.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church. Moore's Southlawn.Every time someone dies, naturally the tendency is to think about our own life, death and memory. It's sad to see such a great life reduced to 2 sentences. I guess the reality is that a great life is eventually reduced to DIRT! Obviously as a Christian I realize there is so much more to live for and such a greater purpose and meaning then 2 sentences and "back to dirt".
Grandma Bette was a super sweet lady! I always remember her smiling, hugging and kissing us. She always had all kinds of goodies for us grandkids everytime we went to visit. Looking back, I know it was hard for my mom, and father-in-laws are sometimes a challenge for the son-in-law, but it never seemed wierd back then. My parents always put on a good face and visited both grandparents often. I guess I'm blessed, because they all tried to make the best out of a not so perfect situation for us grandkids. The truth is that I grew up for a time thinking 3 grandmas was normal and didn't really understand or know what was going on. No one really talked about it. I guess my grandmothers cared too much for us to involve us in it and my parents protected us from any problems. In the end, I'm really thankful for having known grandma Bette, because she was such a kind and loving grandmother.
