"Where is everybody?!"
Wednesday morning we had to go downtown and the streets seemed empty. We figured there had been some kind of chemical spill or evacuation that we didn't hear about. We stopped for some breakfast and on the TV we saw the reason why...Mexico was playing Portugal. Since we are not BIG soccer fans, it kinda slipped past us. In little of the game we got to see, Mexico looked good and seemed to have a change. The final score was Portugal 2, Mexico 1. Today we were running around trying to get ready for ladies Bible class and again, the streets were empty. Barb commented that the game must be on, but I thought that maybe there was a chemical spill or evacuation that we didn't hear about ;-) . It turns about that Mexico was playing Argentina (former world cup champions) and they were tied. It went into over time and Argentina snuck in another goal to make it 2 to 1. I tell you this story to say, Mexico has an "unnatural" addition to soccer. It funny how people take off work, stop in front of storefronts where the game is on or run out of their house shouting goooooooooooooool!!!, everytime Mexico scores. It's been interesting to say the least, but personally I'm ready for college football in the states to get started! Go Sooners!!!
