"Trying to keep up!"
Barb and I feel like we have been running from one thing to the next for a long time now. This past week the LST guys got here and we have tried to help them get their feet wet. Josh and Ben have done a great job and have been very busy as well. They are constantly trying to find more readers and looking for opportunities to be with readers. They have been visiting Tacos stands, passing flyers out in the markets and hosting English parties at the building. We have had low attendance to the parties, but the people that come seem to be really interested. During the week, there are various readers. In Toluca, only one man came to know Christ through LST, but through him, we meet his mom, brothers, girlfriends, other family members and the list goes on! One of the AIMers (Masha) came to know Christ through the LST program in Perm, Russia. I tell you these stories to say, you never know how God will work! One of the readers came to service this morning and stayed afterward for the baptism and potluck. Please keep Josh and Ben in your prayers as they read with people and try to share the gospel through English.
"Two new sisters in Christ!"
This potluck was extra special, because we got to witness two sisters give their lives to Christ! It was so exciting to see God at work in their lives. Lupe and Imelda have had their share of challenges in live, but they finally realized that nothing is worthwhile without Christ! Please keep them in your prayers. Imelda has really had a rough week! Keep her husband Juan in your prayers. He is struggling! Also pray for Lupe's husband Martin. He's a great guy, but hasn't decided to give his life to Christ yet. Their baptism also made people question their own relationship with God. We will see how He works in the near future. Special thanks to Main & Oklahoma for helping with the baptistry!
"New group"
On Friday nights, we have started a new small group at the building. This past Friday night was a "no show", but we are praying for God's blessing and that we will have an opportunity to share the gospel with more people. There are a few ladies around the building that have shown interest in starting a group, but haven't not be able to come yet. Since we have only had it for a couple of weeks, we spent time praying for God to bless the group. We see these groups as an excellent time to grow in the word, share our lives with each other and reach out to people that might not come on a Sunday morning, but would come to a Bible study on a Friday night. Please keep this effort in your prayers. I had two ladies this morning that said they would be there Friday night.
"Youth Small Group"
I haven't mentioned the youth small group in a while, but it's still going on every Thursday at the building. We usually have 8 to 10 kids and it's a good time to study God's word and just be together! I always try to talk about their lives and what the future can mean for them. We are studying the book of Judges, because the book paints a beautiful picture of a forgiving God. Right now we are studying about Samson and the poor relationship choices he made! It has been a good opportunity to talk about dating, relationships and God's plan for His people. Please keep the kids in your prayers. I have also been trying to move towards more of a "group" teaching method on Sundays. I give each group a section of scripture and some questions. After they have read them and answered the questions, we come back together and discuss what we learned. We are studying 1 Timothy and God's purpose and desire for the "young leaders" in the church!
