Wednesday I went with Omar and Manolo to talk with a lady that runs a children's home here in Leon, GTO. I am looking for service opportunities for the various groups coming this summer and this was name that kept coming up. When we arrived at the ladies office she was nice and invited us in to meet with her. She told us a little about all that went on the homes, how many children they helped and how many facilities they owned. I really didn't know what to expect, but I knew this was going to be an experience to say the least. As many of you know, I'm a cry baby and my heart breaks when I see people suffering, especially children. After meeting the meeting, we crossed the street to a large building that looked like it was "falling apart". Now many building downtown look similar with paint peeling, etc, but this building was full of "Masons and Madisons". Even as I write this article I am tearing up seeing those little faces so happy to see us and dying to talk to us. This particular building had around 100 children in it. There were several class rooms, a kitchen and serving area, as well as a laundry room. The entire building is in need of some serious elbow grease. The walls need painting and there are a ton of "fixer-upper" projects everywhere. It was so sad to see so many kids without parents, but I felt good knowing that we could help. I'm not sure how we will help and what all will come of it, but I know that these kids need to see the love of God! Please pray for the efforts and choices we will be making in the coming months! Pray that we can make a difference even if it's a small one and that we can help bring a little hope into the lives of so many children without hope! James 1:27
