When it comes to missions, there is tons of money being poured into Mexico, but little if any coming out! The congregation Leon Sur has decided to change that. Every year the congregation has a missions Sunday and sends the funds collected to another town nearby (within a days drive or less) to help spread the gospel in that place. If my memory serves me, I believe it was Omar who had the vision and courage to challenge a brand new congregation in this area! This year our mission Sunday theme is "into all nations". We are not sure where the funds will be sent. They may even end up staying here in Mexico again, but the idea is to challenge the "local" vision we have had in the past and "go global"! I'm excited about this and look forward to updating you on the church's progress. We will pass out the mission cans August 30th and take them back up in October.
Another awesome aspect to this year's mission Sunday is the fact that 3 of our own have caught the vision and are preparing to share the gospel in other parts of the word. Please take a moment to pray for Rafael, Beto and Evelyn and their studies. Also pray that God will continue to change and challenge His people at Leon Sur as they strive to spread the good news that changed their lives!
