"Brains or Brawns?!"
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about this idea of what's most important in the Kingdom? I have always looked down on the book worm type...guess why...I'm not one! Now, I'm no Forrest Gump (though some might beg to differ), but I never did too well in school. The truth be told, I didn't apply myself like I should have. Now in AIM, I did pretty good as far as grades go, because the Bible was actually interesting and "worthy of my time". I have never really struggled to sit down and read the Bible although there were times when I was more faithful about reading it than others. I wasn't "one of the top" in the class and I was a mess in a lot of senses, so needless to say I wasn't looked at as the "next Paul". Few had any hope in me. Ironically enough some who were "held high" (have you noticed I like quotation marks?!) for their brains, never really panned out. Then in 1997, Barb and I started the preaching school. Barb is not only beautiful...she's very intelligent...I know what you are thinking "why did she marry you?!" ha, ha,...she also has a big heart! Anyways, she did great in school and really encouraged me to get on the ball, but that motivation only went so far. Again, there were many who were held up as the "next best thing" to happen to the church. Some of which now work at gas stations and computer stores. What's the answer to the question "brain or brawns"? Neither and both! Neither, because no one is righteous, not even one! Both, because they are dependant upon God! Two of our best AIMers here on the field...won't say names b/c 7 live here in Leon and the other 7 know where I live ;)...to date were very different. One was brains and the other was brawns. By the grace of God they both did a great job...really all the LAIMers (Leon AIMers) have blessed the work in one way or another. In the end, we are all blessed with unique talents. Many don't "fit the mold" in the Kingdom, but that's where God's power is shown! Tomorrow 4 people who don't fit the mold will give their lives to Christ!!! The one baptizing them, Arturo, doesn't fit the mold either, but they have all witnessed God's saving grace in their lives and know that despite what this world says...they are beneficial in the Kingdom...PRAISE GOD!!!"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Cor. 12:9-10
