How did you spend your New Year's Day?

My sister called us weeks ago and asked us if we were up for "a run" on New Year's day? Barb and I have been trying to exercise more, so we decided it would be fun. We were told the race was only 3. something miles. We found out last night it was a full 5 miles!

Since we stayed up last night to welcome in the new year, we were tired and cold this morning at 7:30 a.m. when we got up and left for the race in Dallas...it was 35 degrees! It was great fun! Barb and I walked/"jogged" a little better than a 15 minute mile for 5 miles. For me, it was pretty good, but since the first guy finished in less than 25 minutes...I didn't brag too much ;)!

Funny story, we had to register by weight class and each class was named after an animal. There was the gazelle weight class, the mustangs were medium size guys and the bigger guys were rhinos, but of course my weight class couldn't have been something that...well, flattering. No, my weight class was HIPPO!!! Wasn't real proud of that, but I did have a good laugh all the same...maybe it's time to lose weight?!
