"The POUNDING"

Today we had a "pounding" for the Rubio family. The story goes that this name comes from a church tradition of receiving new members, preacher or blessing someone. The idea was that everyone in the congregation would be a pound of something. For example a pound of rice, beans, sugar, or maybe canned goods, etc. Last week we asked the congregation to bring a kilo (2.2 pounds...perhaps even more generous ;) of something for the Rubio family. As you can see in the picture, we had a great turn out. There were over 4 laundry baskets of groceries for the Rubio family. I was super proud of the congregation for their participation and love that was showered on Roberto and his family. I'm excited to see how the church has welcomed their family!

On a different note, we would ask you to keep Susana in your prayers. Because of the poor decisions of her family and others, she is under a ton of stress. She is truly between a rock and a hard place right and she really needs prayers!
