Recently received email:

Hey, I thought you might like to know that I just read the "Desperate Times" blog entry you posted, and that I linked to it on my Facebook site. Within about 3 hours, I had someone post a response that said:"The article you posted, "Desperate Times", is ignorant, ill-informed and clearly fueled by misunderstanding. This Shawn Gary fellow, and anyone who buys into his way of thinking, is in serious need of prayer."I've sent her a message to see if she'll get into a conversation about it, but I thought you'd like to know that you're getting a response from totally unexpected places; she's from Ontario!

Now this was from a good friend who posted this article on his "Facebook site". To be honest, I'm not sure if he agrees with the comments made or what, but I would like to respond as I had already planned to, knowing this might "ruffle some feathers". First I would like to say, thanks for your prayers Mrs. "Ontario". Our family and the Lord's work here could really use them! I'm sure I have a lot to learn and I apologize if I came off arrogant or disrespectful. I know there are many people who practice lent and/or are Catholics that are very sincere people. But unforunately, sincerity doesn't make things factual or right. I would love to speak more with you about this (mexicogarys@yahoo.com) at your earliest convience. On the other hand, I know that there's a lot of things that need to be brought to light for what they really are.

Above is "San Judas" (Saint Judas). You can click on the picture and read all about him. You can also go to Wikipedia to read more or just go to the Gospels. I recently was driving and stopped at a stoplight. A young man handed me a little card that had this picture on the front along with a "drivers prayer" (Oracion del chofer) on the back. The prayer basically says, You are God and mentions Jesus as well. It says stuff like, (sorry, I guess I'm too lazy to type out the whole thing) You are creator, give me open eyes, strong hands, etc to drive good, be with the other passengers, help me not to go above the speed limit (is anyone else kinda smiling at this point?), at the end of the prayer is the EYE OPENER...at least for me. "...por la intercesion de la virgen Maria. Amen." The intersession of the virgin Mary? Am I the only one seeing this? Again, my whole point is that if there is only ONE WAY (Jesus), then how is another way possible? When people are encouraged to PRAY to SAINTS for help, various cures or for particular things, then how can it be said they are of God? If the Bible is still true and the Bible speaks ONLY of praying to God, then how can we "put others before God"? When you come to Leon, GTO you will notice that many places, including little street vendors that barely wheel on their taco cart, have a picture of a Saint that "protects" them. How does God feel when He sees this? Is this not idolatry and placing others before God. Anyways, more than anything I want to see truth taught. If I'm in the wrong then please help me understand through the Bible. Although I did post the article on the WORLD WIDE web, my intention was for this article to be read by those who pray for us and want to know about the work. Believe it or not, this is the work! Teaching people the truth about the Bible after a life time of lies and deception.
